About
I am an Essex based illustrator who loves storytelling and visual
narrative, with nature and typography emerging as important themes in my work.
I received my degree in Illustration at Camberwell, UAL and after 25 years as an art educator in the UK, Hong Kong and Spain, I recently completed an MA in illustration at Falmouth University.
I have an interest in history and after years of living abroad I have
returned home to examine our English heritage, shared history
and the intangible nature of traditional storytelling. My recent work has explored tales of Essex and the funny, odd and surprising ways in which they have morphed and developed over the years.
My fascination with maps derives from my global travelling and my recent MA: I love the idea of an llustrated map being a key to the physical environment as well as evoking a unique sense of place.
Whether through stories, maps, or type, my goal is to create artwork that sparks curiosity and invites viewers-especially young people-into new imaginative worlds.
